Cobaw Community Health (Cobaw) in conjunction with Zoe Belle Gender Collective, is offering a two hour inclusive practice training session for healthcare professionals. Aimed at GPs, nurses, psychologists, allied health professionals and anyone who works in a healthcare setting, the training examines best practice in trans and gender diverse health.

Presented by Starlady from the Zoe Belle Gender Collective, the training will explore trans and gender diverse identities, experiences and language with the aim of better supporting the healthcare pathways of community members who identify as trans and gender diverse.

Margaret McDonald, CEO at Cobaw encouraged health professionals to take advantage of this local training. “Social exclusion is one of the most significant determinants of health outcomes. Due to ongoing prejudice, discrimination and often just ignorance, gender diverse people have significantly lower health outcomes than the general population and are more likely to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder. It could be something as simple as using the correct pronoun when addressing a patient or client.”

The training is taking place this coming Wednesday 20 March from 5.30 to 7.30pm at the Macedon Ranges Hotel & Spa, 652 Black Forest Drive, Macedon. A light meal will be provided.
