The Youth Housing program provides assistance to young people, aged 15 to 25 years, at risk of homelessness or who are currently homeless. Where possible youth workers will also work with the young person’s family to resolve conflict and explore housing options.
Housing options may include access to youth housing (limited), Kids Under Cover units, social/community housing, or private rental. The program also provides support to explore and engage in education/ training or employment and linkages to the community and other services.
Intensive support is provided to young people staying in crisis arranged accommodation such as a caravan, tent, couch surfing, friends, extended family short term, car and hotel/motel.
Do you need some guidance to develop your independent living skills? The Youth Housing team, in conjunction with young people, have created WALTER (Work and Lifeskills Tips ETC Resource). WALTER is part of a Life skills program and is a handy guide outlining important information and assistance to young people when living independently.
